7 Best Peloton Heart Rate Monitor Reviews
Scosche Rhythm+ Review
The number one recommended heart rate armband for the peloton bike is the Scosche Rhythm+. It is an outstanding optically powered device and offers more wearing methods than the typical chest strap monitors. The Rhythm+ can is wearable on your triceps, forearm, or your biceps. Plus it also has spot-on accuracy and doesn't fall short when compared to other HRMs.
The Scosche Rhythm+ is equipped with built-in Bluetooth SMART and ANT+ with connectivity to over 200 fitness apps. We've had the Scosche Rhythm+ for more than two years and have been using it with the Peloton ever since. Having this HRM transformed the way we experienced training on the bike.
With the Scosche, we were able to accurately track our heart rate reading thanks to the three optical sensors on the back. That allowed us to know precisely how hard we were or weren't working. We also loved that it came with two straps, one large and another small strap. Moreover, it features a decent battery capacity of 8 hours, which would typically last us for a week of exercises of 1 hour each day.
Overall, we loved the Scosche Rhythm plus and recommend it as the number one HRM for the Peloton.
Garmin HRM-Dual Review
If accuracy is vital for you, then we recommend the Garmin HRM-Dual is our top choice. This device is a bit more accurate than the Scosche Rhythm+ because it is a chest strap device instead of an armband. This device is our second favorite hear rate sensor for the Peloton bike.
With the Garmin HRM-Dual, you get concurrent connectivity to a lot of fitness apps over both ANT+ and Bluetooth. Concurrent connectivity means you can have the device connected to your peloton cycle and another app at the same time! This feature was beneficial as we were able to the Peloton bike and another device or app at the same time.
The Garmin-HRM is also waterproofed for up to 1 ATM or 1 meter and features a soft adjustable strap that will fit most persons. Additionally, it has a whopping 3.5 years of battery life, so you never have to worry about running out! So if accuracy, functionality, and a chest strap are what you prefer, then the Garmin-HRM dual is our top recommendation.
Wahoo TICKR X Heart Rate Monitor Review
The Wahoo Tickr X like the Garmin dual HRM is another excellent heart rate sensor that is suitable for use with the Peloton Cycle. However, it has some remarkable features that we found very useful. Wahoo's TICKR X is capable of accurately capturing the motion and intensity of your workout. As a result, it almost perfectly records and measures your heart rate, spin cadence, calories burned, running analytics, and can even count reps.
Plus it comes with onboard memory that can keep your workout data stored on the monitor for syncing with a device later. Additionally, the Wahoo TICKR X supports dual-band Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+. Which means it is fully compatible with Peloton. Plus you also get a long battery life of 12 months.
The device is also waterproof for up to 5 ft and comes with a comfy strap that you can wash when it gets too sweaty. The only downside is the price. However, it is an excellent heart rate monitor overall and works great with Peloton bikes or treadmills.
Polar H10 Review
Another highly precise and highly recommended heart rate monitor for Peloton is the Polar H10. It is fully compatible with a lot of fitness apps and works through both Bluetooth and ANT +. Moreover, this device is waterproof up to 30m and has built-in memory for one training session.
We also had no trouble with using it on the bike; however, comparing the battery life to others in the price range, we found it a little lacking. The Polar H10 comes with a 100-hour replaceable battery. But since it was able to measure our heart rate accurately, we decided to include it in this list.
Wahoo TICKR Heart Rate Sensor Review
The Wahoo TICKR is well known for low cost and fantastic reliability. This heart rate monitor model has excellent recommendations and is one of the Top choices on amazon. When paired with the Peloton bike, the TICKR is almost a perfect match up. It features both Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+ and can easily connect with a lot of fitness apps and watches.
If you considered the TICKR X, but you don't want to spend so much on it, then you should buy the basic TICKR. It boasts almost identical accuracy and is fully capable of fulfilling most peloton user needs.
CooSpoo Fitness Tracker Review
If you are on a budget, then the CooSpoo Fitness Tracker is the best option to go for after the Wahoo TICKR. It is compatible with both ANT+ and Bluetooth and works great with the bike. Plus it has a comfortable strap that is adjustable up to 95 inches.
It is also compatible with many third-party fitness apps from companies like Wahoo, Zwift, Strava. Moreover, it has excellent accuracy that is almost on par with the more premium heart rate monitors.
Wahoo TICKR Fit Armband Review
The final HRM on this list is the Wahoo TICKR Fit armband. There isn't much difference between the TICKR fit and the Scosche Rhythm+. However, we still think this optical armband is an excellent fit for this list and works well with the Peloton.
It features connectivity through Bluetooth and ANT+. Plus it has better battery life than the Scosche for pretty much the same cost. And it is also waterproof up to 5 feet. Overall it's a great HRM, and you'll have no issues connecting with a lot of other fitness apps and devices with this monitor.
Now that we've gone over the top heart rate sensors for the Peloton, we'll answer some of our most asked questions.
Where is the best place to wear a Peloton heart rate monitor?
You can wear a heart rate monitor on your arm with an armband or around your chest with a chest strap monitor. For the Peloton bike, we found little to no difference in accuracy between the chest strap and armband monitors. However, the most significant difference in accuracy is dependent on the model armband or chest strap you are using.
Is a chest strap or armband better for Peloton?
Overall we found that the chest strap devices were a little more accurate than the armband products. But that difference was barely noticeable when we tested with the Scosche Rhythm+ and Garmin HRM-Dual. However, we did find the armband monitors a little more comfortable to wear than a chest strap while cycling.
We've owned many HRMs over the years but our favorite one to use with Peloton is the Scosche Rhythm+. The device is easy to connect, tracks your heart rate measurements accurately, and is reasonably priced. After the Scosche, our next favorite model currently is the Garmin HRM-Dual for its impressive accuracy and super-long battery life.
Overall you don't need an HRM to use with the bike or any stationary bikes like the Peloton. However, having one certainly transformed our experience, and it will surely change yours too. So if you want to see where you can improve and push yourself harder, then you should consider one of the HRMs on this list.
